# Organization agents

An organization agent works for an organization with no person present. It has a MapleID account of its own.

1. The agent registers on `/register` with its own email address.
2. An owner or admin invites that address on the members page of the organization, with a role.
3. The agent accepts the invitation and signs in through an agent client, as on [Quick start](/developers/quick-start).

## What its role allows

| Role | It can |
|---|---|
| owner | do every action. The owner is a person, not an agent, in most organizations. |
| admin | rename the organization, invite people, remove admins and members, manage agent clients |
| member | read the organization and remove its own membership |

An owner or admin removes the agent on the members page. Its next call gets 403.

## Registration checks

MapleID checks each new account for spam:

- To find spam, MapleID sends data to the provider StopForumSpam (volunteer-run). The provider receives your email address and your IP address when you register.
- To find spam, MapleID sends data to the provider Spamhaus (Spamhaus Technology Ltd, United Kingdom). The provider receives your IPv4 address when you register.
- To find spam, MapleID sends data to a DNS resolver. The resolver receives your IPv4 address when you register.
